Perfection
a story by Chaya Levinson - Part One

"There is nothing as whole and perfect as a broken heart..." (R' Yisroel Salanter)

When the echoes of the joyous singing faded into silence and the dozens of flower bouquets and arrangements were distributed in suitable niches all around the house and Rivky finally began to seriously think about the awesome days looming up in her near future, she was suddenly beset by an original idea...

Tourgeman Post Museum: A Sore Site for Eyes

During the week of Chol Hamoed, I went with my grand daughter to visit the Tourgeman Post Museum at 4 Rechov Chail Hahandasah near Botei Ungarin. This is situated where the Mandelbaum Gate stood before the state of Israel was established and should be a place of historic interest. It is listed in "Eretz Avoseinu," a tour guide for the religious Jewish visitor to Israel, and this place is recommended for children.

Kovod HaTorah
by Tzvia Ehrlich-Klein, Jerusalem

We train our little children to kiss Torah scrolls because we want to imbue them with respect for Torah. Because we really care about kovod haTorah and conveying it to our children.

That's why I wonder why so many families allow their children to run around and talk during Shabbos Kiddush and when there is divrei Torah being discussed at the Shabbos table. Aren't they afraid that the children will think that kovod haTorah only refers to falling books and elderly rabbis?

Focus on Shemiras Haloshon - Lech Lecha

Plastic
by M. Steinberg

Once, many long years ago (about five, actually), I owned a few precious plastic containers with good snap-on lids. These had been bought at great expense and difficulty at evening house sales. They were, preferably, imported from the United States or England. Whenever I sent some food to a simcha or an ailing friend, the container was labeled with my telephone number so as not to confuse it with a contribution from my daughter-in-law or anyone with a similar name.

Do It Yourself With Yosef Krinsky

It's always surprising to hear that your neighbors have just been broken into. They had nothing worth taking. Who would ever steal from them? However, crimes such as burglary and theft are on the rise. What can be done to stop a thief?

Detecting Heart Disease through CAT Scans
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

According to a report in Ma'ariv, simple examinations with CAT-scans can warn in advance of heart disease or possible heart attacks through a new computer program developed by physicians at the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer with the help of technicians of the Picker Co. (formerly Elscint).

Your Medical Questions Answered!
by Joseph B. Leibman, MD

Not long after dinner, a person's wife wakes up from sleep with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. She is doubled over in pain. A few tense minutes later, the pain disappears as quickly as it started. She admits to her concerned husband that this is not the first episode. What is going on?
